News Merman Revisited: Blackhurst Again Heads Into Traffic Oct. 14-15 at Birdland In celebration of the upcoming centenary of the late Broadway star Ethel Merman, cabaret singer Klea Blackhurst reprises her Merman tribute, Everything the Traffic Will Allow, Oct. 14-15 at Birdland.

Blackhurst, who received the 2002 Manhattan Association of Cabaret and Clubs Award for Best Female Vocalist for Traffic, will offer her Merman evening at 7 PM at the famed Manhattan jazz club. The concert features such Merman signature tunes as "I Got Rhythm," "Blow Gabriel Blow" and "Everything's Coming Up Roses" as well as the lesser-known "Just a Moment Ago," "I've Still Got My Health" and "World Take Me Back." Blackhurst will be backed by musical director Michael Rice on piano, Ray Kilday on bass and Danny Mallon on drums.

The celebrated performer will also offer Everything the Traffic Will Allow for New Orleans audiences Oct. 18-21 and Oct. 25-28 at Le Chat Noir. Visit www.cabaretlechatnoir.com for details.

Klea Blackhurst received the 2002 Manhattan Association of Cabaret and Clubs Award (MAC) for Best Female Vocalist for her Merman tribute, "Everything the Traffic Will Allow." Off-Broadway the singer-actress was seen in By Jupiter, Radio Gals, Oil City Symphony and Winnie the Pooh. She made her London stage debut at Royal Albert Hall, performing the role of Ado Annie in a concert version of Oklahoma!. Blackhurst's TV appearances include "The Caroline Rhea Show," "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," and "Sesame Street." The singer's solo CDs are titled "Everything the Traffic Will Allow" and "Vernon Duke's Broadway."
