It's Christmas and what has singer-performer Varla Jean Merman done? Set up her own holiday benefit for God's Love We Deliver Dec. 17 at Town Hall.

The rumored love child of Ernest Borgnine and Ethel Merman hosts the evening, entitled Varla-la-la-la. La-la-la-la. Among the featured guests are Kate Pierson of the B-52s, the Kinsey Sicks (Dragapella), the band Betty (BETTY Rules), Jackie Hoffman (Obie winner for The Book of Liz), Maggie Moore, Kristine Zbornik and Seth Rudetsky.

Merman is the creation of Jeffrey T. Roberson, who has appeared on Broadway in Chicago and in cabaret opposite Betty Buckley singing excerpts from Carrie. He won a 1997 Bistro Award, a 1998 Mac Award and recently made his London debut at the Soho Theatre on the West End.
