News Meryl Streep Is Glam Rocker in "Ricki and the Flash," in Theatres Today Oscar winner Meryl Streep's new film "Ricki and the Flash" opens in theatres Aug. 7; the veteran actress stars as the lead singer and guitarist of a rock band who is trying to make amends with her family and piece her career back together.

The film is helmed by fellow Oscar winner Robert Jonathan Demme ("The Silence of the Lambs") and features a script by Diablo Cody, who also won an Academy Award for "Juno."

The soundtrack is also released Aug. 7 and features Rick Springfield, who appears in the film alongside Streep, as well as longtime Neil Young bassist, the late Rick Rosas, among other talents.
