News Met Opera Now Offering $25 Rush Tickets Through Online Lottery In an effort to develop the opera audience by broadening access to the company's productions, the rush system for the Metropolitan Opera, which provides $25 tickets to performances, will be offered online.

Prospective ticket buyers can log on to the Met website the evening before a performance they would like to see to enter. Winners will receive an email by noon the day of the performance and will be able to purchase up to two $25 tickets up until two hours before curtain time. The Met recently reached a new labor agreement with the Metropolitan Opera and IATSE Local One, the union representing the company's stagehands. The new agreements are the culmination of a six-month series of conversations between the Met and unions representing its employees. More than 1,600 Met full-time and seasonal employees are members of a total of 16 unions.
