Jewish Ensemble Theatre, the Actors' Equity troupe known as JET in Metro Detroit, presents the world premiere of Ian Strasfogel's The Caregiver, beginning performances April 28 at Aaron DeRoy Theatre in West Bloomfield, MI.
JET artistic director Evelyn Orbach directs New York veteran Sol Frieder, David Wolber and Kate Willinger in the new drama about an aging, addled symphony conductor, his son and a mysterious caregiver.
Strasfogel has written specialty concert text based on the lives of composers, performed by Tom Hulce, F. Murray Abraham and others, and his libretti for Icarus and Talking Heads, performed in Europe.
Opening night is May 2. Performances continue to May 30. Tickets are $15-$23. The DeRoy Theatre is in the Jewish Community Center at 6600 W. Maple at Drake. Call (248) 788-2900 for information.
