It is part of the Spamalot Charity Gods' initiative that has already seen Michael Palin, Hugh Bonneville, Barbara Windsor, Larry Lamb, Bradley Walsh, Simon Callow and Christopher Biggins film the role, replacing Eric Idle (who co-created the musical and usually appears on film as God).

Future guest Gods are scheduled to include Professor Brian Cox, Greg Dyke, Robert Lindsay and Gary Lineker.

The role of God features in Spamalot when King Arthur and the Knights of The Round Table are given their quest to find The Holy Grail.

The cast currently also features Les Dennis as King Arthur, with Bonnie Langford as The Lady of the Lake and Warwick Davis as Patsy.
