News Michael Gambon to Appear in "Doctor Who Christmas Special" Veteran stage and screen actor Michael Gambon will become part of a British television tradition when he guest stars on this year's "Doctor Who Christmas Special," according to BBC Online.

Classical singer Katherine Jenkins will also appear on the special, marking her acting debut.

The special, adapted from the popular science-fiction series that is a long-running hit in the U.K., will star Matthew Smith as Doctor Who and follow Who's assistant, Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and her new husband Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) on their honeymoon.

Gambon holds Olivier Awards for his work in A Chorus of Disapproval, A View from the Bridge and Man of the Moment, a Tony nomination for his performance in Skylight and Emmy nominations for his performances in "Path to War" and this year's "Emma." He is also known for portraying Albus Dumbledore in the "Harry Potter" films.
