News Michael Gambon to Join Dustin Hoffman and Joan Allen in HBO's "Luck" Actor Michael Gambon will join fellow stage and screen stars Dustin Hoffman and Joan Allen in the HBO horse-racing drama "Luck," according to tvguide.com.

Gambon's character, who has not been named, will be the rival of Hoffman's Ace Bernstein. Patrick J. Adams (Geffen Playhouse's Equivocation, "Old School") has also joined the cast, which, in addition to Gambon (Krapp's Last Tape and No Man's Land in the West End, the "Harry Potter" films), Hoffman (The Merchant of Venice, Death of a Salesman, "Kramer vs. Kramer," "The Graduate") and Allen (Burn This, The Heidi Chronicles, "The Crucible," "Georgia O'Keefe"), was previously reported to include John Ortiz (Othello, "Jack Goes Boating"), Richard Kind (The Producers, Bounce, "Spin City"), Academy Award nominee Nick Nolte ("Affliction," "The Prince of Tides"), Dennis Farina, Kevin Dunn, Jason Gedrick, Richie Coster, Ian Hart, Tom Payne, Kerry Condon and Gary Stevens.

The pilot of "Luck," currently in production, is written by David Milch and directed by Michael Mann.
