Michael Lerner, who has acted in theatres in Los Angeles and New York as well as on film — he was nominated for an Oscar for his peformance in Barton Fink and wsa also featured in The Postman Always Rings Twice — will be joined by two other Americans: Tom Irwin, who has considerable experience with the renowned Chicago Steppenwolf Theatre, and Danny Pino.
Regular London theatregoers will recognize British actress Sian Thomas, who is also among the cast. Last year, she was seen a little further down Charing Cross at the Garrick in Feelgood. She was also in A Delicate Balance and, with Robert Lindsay, in Richard III at the Savoy. Also cast are two actors from Ben Elton's Shaftesbury Avenue hit Popcorn, Megan Dodds and Debora Weston.
Up for Grabs, in which Madonna plays an art dealer pitting her various customers against one another in a bidding war over a Jackson Pollock painting, is directed by Laurence Boswell and begins previews on May 9. The play official opens on May 23 and runs through July 13.
