JFK On JFK, a solo show about the late president written and performed by Michael Shannon, will have its world premiere at the Stella Adler Theatre in L.A. on Sept. 2 and will run through Oct. 1. The director is Vickery Turner.
Shannon transports the audience into the Kennedy White House, into his Oval Office, and into his bedroom. Topics covered include Cuba's Bay of Pigs, the streets of Birmingham and Montgomery, with stops in Paris, Vienna, Moscow and Saigon. Shannon explores the mind of JFK through his words, thoughts, aspirations, failures and triumphs.
Last year Shannon played Warren G. Harding in the acclaimed production of James Staley's Everyone's Friend at the Whitefire Theatre. His first play, Deros On The Funny Farm was produced both at the Long Wharf Theatre and Off-Broadway. As an actor, Shannon made his Broadway debut opposite Gloria Swanson in Butterflies Are Free.
Turner directed Shannon in Everyone's Friend. She has written numerous teleplays for the BBC, as well as four published novels.
