Following a star turn in Harvey Fierstein’s Torch Song, Michael Urie will return to Broadway’s Hayes Theater. The actor joins the cast of Bess Wohl’s Grand Horizons, which will begin performances in December ahead of a January 23, 2020, opening.
The play heads to New York following a recent world premiere at Williamstown Theatre Festival. Reprising their performances from that run will be Tony nominee Thomas Sadoski (Reasons to Be Pretty) as Ben, Tony nominee Ashley Park (Mean Girls) as Jess, Tony winner Priscilla Lopez (Hollywood/Ukraine, A Chorus Line) as Carla, and Maulik Pancholy (30 Rock) as Tommy.

The Williamstown engagement also featured Jesse Tyler Ferguson (as Brian, now played by Urie), Jamey Sheridan as Bill, and JoBeth Williams as Nancy. Additional Broadway casting will be announced later.
Grand Horizons centers on a family led by Bill and Nancy, a couple married for five decades. When Nancy suddenly walks out, their sons Brian and Ben must deal with an unexpectedly crumbling family.
The staging, directed by Leigh Silverman, features sets and costumes by Clint Ramos, lighting by Jen Schriever, and sound design by Palmer Hefferan. Casting is by Telsey + Company.
