A number of theatre artists have been selected for The Kennedy Center’s Next 50 list, celebrating individuals who are contributing their talents to create a more equitable world. Among those chosen are stage and screen star Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Tony-nominated choreographer Camille A. Brown, and stage manager extraordinaire Cody Renard Richard.

“As part of our 50th anniversary… The Kennedy Center sought to discover leaders who are moving us toward a more inspired, inclusive, and compassionate world,” says the organization. “[These are] 50 leaders and organizations that, through sustained excellence of artistic, educational, athletic, or multi-disciplinary work, are lighting the way forward.”

The selected leaders will participate in a number of Kennedy Center programs and work with the organization to help create more opportunities for emerging cultural and artistic talent.

Rodriguez recently made history as the first transgender performer to win a Golden Globe award, for Pose. Richard was most recently the stage manager of Freestyle Love Supreme and served as a producer for Thoughts of a Colored Man. Brown has worked on shows like Choir Boy and Once On This Island; she will next make her Broadway directorial debut with the revival of for colored girls… at the Booth Theatre.

Also included on the list from the performing arts industry are Kyle Abraham, Chloe & Maud Arnold, Qacung Blanchett, Nicole Brewer, Ty Defoe, J'Nai Bridges, and Kamilah Forbes. For the full list, click here
