Michelle Terry will replace Emma Rice as the new artistic director of Shakespeare’s Globe in London starting in October. The Olivier-winning performer will become artistic director designate in October and will fully take over the role in April 2018.
Terry, an Olivier winner for her performance in Tribes, is a regular performer with the Royal Shakespeare Company and at the Globe.
Rice leaves the Globe after two seasons in charge. She recently established Wise Children, a new theatre company that has secured regular Arts Council England funding.

Terry has most recently been seen as Henry V at the Open Air theatre in Regent’s Park, London. She also co-wrote and starred in The Café, which aired on Sky1 for three years.
