News Mike Birbiglia's Thank God for Jokes Opens Tonight The Off-Broadway engagement of Mike Birbiglia's Thank God for Jokes officially opens Feb. 11 at The Lynn Redgrave Theater. The show marks the comedian, writer and actor's return to the New York stage following two earlier, acclaimed solo shows.

Performances began Feb. 2 and are scheduled to run through March 13. 

Thank God for Jokes, a comedy which explores to what extent we should go for a laugh, played at BAM last September and has toured over 80 cities in America. "Birbiglia tiptoes hilariously through the minefield that is joke-telling," states a description on the show's website. "Join Mike as he tells jokes with Fozzie Bear, shares private jokes with his wife and cat, and makes light of a life-threatening condition."

It is directed by Seth Barrish and features set design by Tony winner Beowulf Boritt.

Brooklyn native Birbiglia won the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Solo Show for his acclaimed My Girlfriend's Boyfriend. The show was a follow-up to his acclaimed Off-Broadway debut, Sleepwalk With Me, presented by Nathan Lane and for which he was nominated for Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards. In 2012 he directed and starred in a Sundance-winning film adaptation. His acting credits include "The Fault in Our Stars," "Trainwreck," "Orange Is the New Black" and "Inside Amy Schumer."
