News Miles, Finley and Goyanes to Be Honored Dec. 10 The League of Professional Theater Women will honor Julia Miles, Karen Finley and Maria Goyanes during the League's annual Holiday Party Dec. 10.

The evening, which begins at 6 PM, will be held at the restaurant etcetera etcetera on West 44th Street. Miles, the founding artistic director of the Women's Project, will receive the 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award. Performance artist Karen Finley will be presented with the Lee Reynolds Award for "illuminating cultural and political change," and Goyanes will be honored with the Josephine Abady Award, which is given to "an emerging woman director or producer whose work reflects cultural diversity."

In 1968 Julia Miles founded the Women's Project, where she worked through 2003. She also founded the League of Professional Theatre Women in 1980.

Karen Finley is the recipient of two Obie Awards and two Bessies. Her solo pieces include George and Martha, Make Love, The American Chestnut, A Certain Level of Denial and The Return of The Chocolate Smeared Woman. In 1990 she sued the NEA for withdrawing grants on the grounds of indecency.

Maria Goyanes is an artistic associate at the Public Theater and an executive producer for 13P. She recently was named co-chair of the Soho Rep Writer/Director Lab along with Jason Grote.

Lynne Rogers and Lynda Sturner are co-presidents of The League of Professional Theater Women, which boasts over 200 member writers, directors, producers, actors, lawyers, agents and industry executives in the New York theatre community.
