News Milioti, Herlihy and Aidem to Star in Crooked for the Women's Project Catherine Trieschmann's comedy Crooked, which played an acclaimed run at London's Bush Theatre in 2006, will be presented by the Women's Project in April.

Directed by Liz Diamond, previews will begin at the Women's Project Theater April 11 with an official opening April 20 at 7 PM.

Crooked, according to press notes, is the "tale of a 14-year-old's warped and wry storytelling that forces the people around her to grapple with matters of faith, fantasy, and flesh."

Cristin Milioti, whose Broadway credits include Coram Boy and The Lieutenant of Inishmore, will play the 14-year-old Laney with Carmen M. Herlihy as her born-again friend Maribel and Betsy Aidem as Laney's mother.

In a statement playwright Trieschmann said, "The most surprising and lovely twist was the premiere of Crooked last year in London. Due to the play's Southern setting and themes, I envisioned it premiering in Atlanta or Louisville; London never even crossed my mind. It gave me such a silly pleasure to tell the woman behind the customs counter why I needed to enter the U.K."

"An American playwright born in Georgia and living in Kansas has her play arrive at its New York premiere after it is acclaimed in England. That is certainly a first for Women's Project and may be a circuitous first for any female playwright," stated Women's Project Artistic Director Julie Crosby. The design team comprises set designer Jennifer Moeller, costumes designer Ilona Somogyi and lighting designer S. Ryan Schmidt with original music by sound designer Jane Shaw.

Show times are Tuesdays at 7 PM, Wednesdays-Saturdays at 8 PM with matinees Saturdays and Sundays at 3 PM.

The Women's Project Theater is located in Manhattan at 424 West 55th Street. Tickets, priced $15 (members) and $42 (non members), are available by calling (212) 239-6200. For more information visit www.WomensProject.org.
