News Mini-Musical! Final Season of Fox's "Glee" Trimmed The sixth and final season of the Fox hit musical series "Glee" will consist of 13 episodes — 11 less than the planned 24 episodes — running consecutively in midseason, according to Deadline.com.

When the series was not featured on the Fox fall schedule for the first time at the upfronts, then-Fox chairman Kevin Reilly hinted that the season could be trimmed and that Fox executives and co-creator/executive producer Ryan Murphy would sit down to discuss the possibility.

In April it was reported that "Glee" hit a ratings low in its fifth season and cut two episodes from its schedule. The musical series had fallen below 3 million viewers and a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic, and the fifth season was averaging 4.2 million viewers. The first season averaged 11 million viewers and a 4.9 rating.

According to Deadline, the show is facing a major creative reboot in its final season and moving to a new location. Murphy said in April that the final season "dwells on the original people on the show and what happens to them and how they give back."

"Glee" is produced by Ryan Murphy Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Ian Brennan and Dante Di Loreto serve as executive producers.
