News Minnelli to Play Ramsey-like Character on "Law & Order" Tony Award winner Liza Minnelli, who will play a Vegas engagement at the Luxor Theatre in October, is set to return to the small screen.

The New York Post reports that the award-winning singer-actor-dancer will be the guest star in a forthcoming episode of NBC's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent." Minnelli will play a character named Patsy Ramsey-like character named Debby Harner in an episode entitled "Masquerade." According to the New York daily, Harner is "a former beauty queen whose daughter Ashleigh is found murdered on Halloween night 1992. The case returns to the spotlight when a 'pedophile-in-exile' confesses to the murder." The episode bears more than a slight resemblance to the real-life murder case of JonBenet Ramsey, the young daughter of the late Patsy Ramsey. Recently, John Mark Karr said he was responsible for JonBenet's death, although his admission was later deemed a false confession due to a lack of a DNA match.

"Law & Order: Criminal Intent" airs on NBC-TV Tuesday evenings at 9 PM ET; check local listings. The hour-long drama features Chris Noth, Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, Eric Bogosian and Julianne Nicholson.

Liza Minnelli, an Oscar winner for her performance in Cabaret, was last on Broadway in a tribute to her late father entitled Minnelli on Minnelli; she also returned to New York City's Beacon Theatre with her acclaimed concert Liza's Back! In addition to her Tonys for Flora, the Red Menace and The Act, Minnelli was awarded a special Tony in 1974 for "adding lustre to the Broadway season." Her film credits include "The Sterile Cuckoo," "Arthur," "New York, New York" and "Stepping Out." The singer is also a Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actress. Her album "Liza's Back!" is available on the J Records label, and "The Best of Liza Minnelli" was released on the Columbia/Legacy label. Showtime aired "Liza with a 'Z'" in April, and Minnelli recently received the Julie Harris Award for Lifetime Achievement at the 10th Annual Tony Awards Bash in Los Angeles.
