The construction accident reported earlier (April 12) at Seventh Avenue and West 42nd Street has been cleared.
Two British women, Jane Garner and Debbie Benson were startled and jostled into a construction fence after a truck rounding the corner of Seventh and West 42nd clipped the construction bridge and caused them to jump backward quickly to avoid serious injury.
The Times Square Business Improvement District had earlier reported no injuries at the scene. In fact, Garner's left leg was slightly hurt, she said. Both women were shaken after being pelted with debris, wood and dust from the damaged scaffolding bridge. They later filed incident reports with the NYPD at the Midtown South Station at Times Square.
Construction workers were repairing the parapet panels of the damaged bridge by the time the women were finishing their reports and traffic had returned to normal by 1:45 PM.
