Miranda, who gave a caffeinated hip-hop-fueled performance as the narrator of In the Heights, will play roommate of the misanthropic title character, played by Hugh Laurie, in the FOX medical drama. Their situation is not usual: They're patients in a psychiatric hospital.

The busy Miranda also co-founded the comedy improv group Freestyle Love Supreme (gigs of which he sits in on occasionally), contributed new songs to a revised version of the musical Working and penned Spanish-language content for the libretto and lyrics of the current Tony Award-nominated Broadway revival of West Side Story. He also signed a development deal with Dreamworks Animation.

EW.com reported that Miranda will appear in at least two episodes of "House" starting with the season premiere in the fall.

At the end of the 2008-09 season of "House," viewers were shocked when Dr. Gregory House checked himself into a psychiatric hospital.
