Farewell to Miriam Phillips, 98, who began her career at Pennsylvania's Hedgerow Theatre and eventually reached Houston's Alley Theatre and Broadway. Philllips died Oct. 24. According to the NY Times obituary, Phillips played more than 120 roles at Hedgerow, including Candida and Mrs. Alving (Ghosts). On Broadway, she appeared in Waltz Of The Toreadors and Filumena. (Ironically, the latter is currently getting an Off-Broadway revival, staged by James Naughton.) Other credits include Death Of A Salesman at Hartford Stage (1964) and Galileo (opposite Ron Leibman) at Philadelphia's Theatre For The Living Arts (1965). Her last performance was in 1986's Daughters Off-Broadway
