News Miss Saigon, Frank Galati, Unreasonable Doubt, Motherhood the Musical Are Carbonell Nominees The nominees of the 25th annual Carbonell Awards, recognizing excellence in South Florida professional theatre, were announced Feb. 15. Miss Saigon at Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre earned the most nominations with 11.

The awards honor the best shows, direction, design and performances of the year 2010 in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

The winners will be announced at the 35th annual Carbonell Awards ceremony on April 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater at Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale.

Choreographer Chrissi Ardito received the most individual nominations, being honored for her work on Oliver! at Actors' Playhouse, as well as The Drowsy Chaperone and Mack and Mabel, both produced at Broward Stage Door Theatre in Coral Springs.

In the category of Best New Work, an award that suggests the health of a theatre community because audiences and theatres are willing to take risks on brand-new work, the nominees are Christopher Demos-Brown, (When the Sun Shone Brighter), Sue Fabisch (Motherhood the Musical), Karen Hartman (Goldie, Max & Milk) and Michael McKeever (Unreasonable Doubt).
