Mitchell, the Tony Award-winning director, choreographer and creator of the burlesque fundraiser Broadway Bares, is collaborating with BASE Entertainment on the new production that will play the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. Peepshow is scheduled to begin previews March 30, 2009, and officially open April 25, 2009.
"Peepshow has been a dream of mine for a long time and now that dream is coming true," Mitchell said in a statement. "We have gathered 20 of the sexiest dancers from film, video, and Broadway to bring a truly American form of entertainment back to the strip. The art of the tease! Mixed with humor, razzle-dazzle, and today's sexy music these stunning dancers will use their bodies to tell a story."
The sultry production is described as "a modern burlesque show created specifically for the dynamic, glamorous audience that exists only in the adult playground of Las Vegas. A highly stylized, full-throttle production show that combines sexy striptease and celebrity with high-level production values and a dash of passion."
Original Spice Girl Mel B. (a.k.a. Melanie Brown) will portray "The Peep Diva," who serves as the evening's emcee, and will guide "Bo Peep" (portrayed by Kelly Monaco) on her search for love.
Peepshow will feature original music and arrangements from composer Andrew Lippa, who has penned The Wild Party, john & jen, Asphalt Beach and the forthcoming Broadway musical adaptation of The Addams Family. A design team of Broadway veterans has been assembled for Peepshow: David Rockwell (set design), Gregg Barnes (costume design), Josh Marquette (hair design), Chris Lee (lighting design), Zachary Borovay (video design) and ACME Sound Partners (sound design).
Peepshow will be performed Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Friday at 8 PM and Thursday and Saturday at 7 PM and 9:30 PM. Tickets, priced $65-$100, are available by phoning (702) 474-4000 or by visiting Ticketmaster.com
