Mixtape, according to press notes, is a "series of vignettes, memories and songs that track the lifelong friendship between record-store owners, Thatcher and Louise. Making a mixtape as they pack up inventory in the store’s final days, the two relive their shared story, track by track. Only as the project draws to a close, do we realize that for Louise, there is a more compelling reason behind making the mix. The greatest songs take on life and meaning beyond what the words and notes were written to convey. In Mixtape, each mash-up includes an iconic pop/rock/soul song and original song representing the voice of the character in the moment. Just as with any mash-up, two realms of music become intertwined, creating the one memory, a track on a mixtape."
