Directed by Jon M. Chu from a screenplay by Ryan Landels, the film will star Aubrey Peeples as Jem with Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau and Hayley Kiyoko as the Holograms, Ryan Guzman as Rio and Juliette Lewis. The film is based on the animated TV series that ran from 1985-88 and follows Jerrica Benton and her alter ego, Jem, who fronts the band the Holograms. "Jem and the Holograms" will take the band through Los Angeles on a music-driven adventure.
Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions, Scooter Braun of SB Projects, Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner, Hasbro Studios president Stephen Davis, Bennett Schneir and Chu produce "Jem and the Holograms," which is currently shooting in Los Angeles.
Ringwald, known for starring in '80s films "Pretty in Pink," "The Breakfast Club" and "Sixteen Candles," has been seen on Broadway in Cabaret and Enchanted April.
