Tennessee's Performing Arts Center will be home to Brian Friel's Molly Sweeney April 6-22 in a co-production with the Tennessee Repertory Theater and Actors Bridge. Bill Feehely directs.

The play, which was inspired by Oliver Sacks' case study, "To See and Not See," was a hit with New York's Roundabout Theatre, starring Catherine Byrne, Alfred Molina and Jason Robards. Molly is a bright young married woman, who is offered the gift of sight by Dr. Rice, a once-prominent surgeon seeking to restore his reputation with the rare operation on Molly. When she gains her sight, however, she loses the world she always knew.

Other Friel plays include the Tony Award-winning Dancing At Lughnasa, Philadelphia, Here I Come! and his newest American premiere, Give Me Your Answer, Do!.

Rebecca Baldwin stars as Molly with Todd Denning as her husband Frank and Cecil Jones as Dr. Rice.

Tickets are $24.50. Molly Sweeney will perform in the Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Johnston Theatre. For reservations, call (615) 255-ARTS. Tennessee Repertory Theatre is on the web at http://www.tnrep.org. -- By Christine Ehren
