Peter Askin directs the work which will open April 6 at the Off-Broadway company's midtown Manhattan home for a run currently scheduled through April 30.

Show People centers on two Broadway actors — Jerry and Marnie (Pressman and Monk) — who have not trod the boards in years until Jerry insists they take on a "risqué job for a rich young New York banker," according to show materials.

The cast will feature Ty Burrell (Burn This, "Out of Practice"), Judy Greer ("Love Monkey,” The School for Wives - Chicago’s Court Theatre), Debra Monk (Reckless, Steel Pier, Chicago) and Lawrence Pressman (The Paris Letter L.A. world premiere, "Doogie Howser M.D.").

The design team includes Heidi Ettinger (set), Jeff Mahshie (costumes), Jeff Croiter (lighting) and Lewis Flinn (sound) — who provides original music.

Weitz brought his last stagework, Privilege, to Second Stage last season. His previous Off-Broadway work includes Roulette starring Larry Bryggman, Anna Paquin and Ana Gasteyer as well as Mango Tea with Marisa Tomei and Rob Morrow. The scribe is also known for his work on such films as "In Good Company," "About A Boy" and "American Pie." His next film "American Dreamz" features Greer and Pressman. Askin directed Weitz's Privilege and Jonathan Reynolds' Dinner with Demons for Second Stage. Other directorial credits include Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Good Body, Trumbo, John Leguizamo's Sexaholix, Spic-O Rama and Mambo Mouth as well as Dael Orlandersmith's Monster, Beauty's Daughter and The Gimmick.

Next up for Second Stage Theatre will be Theresa Rebeck's The Water's Edge, May 23-July 9, starring Kate Burton, Austin Lysy and Tony Goldwyn.
