News Movin' Out Piano Man Billy Joel Hospitalized Following Car Accident Movin' Out composer Billy Joel was involved in a car accident around 10:30 PM Saturday night, Jan. 25. The singer lost control of his Mercedes-Benz and swerved into a tree on a highway in Sag Harbor, Long Island, according to reports.

Joel was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was released approximately at 7:00 AM on Sunday morning, Jan. 26. No details on his injuries have been released.

The Movin' Out camp recently suffered the loss of one of their performers due to a vehicular accident. William Marrié, who danced as the lead role of Eddie at matinee performances, died the morning of Nov. 16 when a taxicab struck his motorcycle. Joel had made a surprise appearance at the Nov. 15 curtain — singing "New York State of Mind" and the show's title song.
