Following a temporary closure due to breakthrough COVID-19 cases among the cast, the new musical Mrs. Doubtfire will reopen on Broadway April 14 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre.

The show has had a rollercoaster journey, having played three previews in March 2020 prior to the initial pandemic shutdown. Performances resumed in October 2021, and the Rob McClure-led musical officially opened December 5. The production halted performances January 9 due to breakthrough cases.

Producer Kevin McCollum said, “When we closed on January 9 we started working on a plan to reopen as soon as we could with the hope of providing long-term employment for everyone who works on Mrs. Doubtfire and for an extended run of the show. I am beyond grateful for the support of the extraordinary cast, crew, orchestra, and creative team, along with the Roundabout Theatre Company, operators of the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, who really want the show to be back and running, delighting audiences from around the world.”
