News MTC Spring Gala Features Performances from Hairspray and Boheme Treat Williams will host the annual Spring Gala for Manhattan Theatre Club on May 12 at the New York Hilton.

Directed by Richard Maltby, Jr., the one-night-only event will celebrate MTC Artistic Director Lynne Meadow’s 30th anniversary at the famed not for-profit theatre as well as the opening of the newly renovated Biltmore Theatre, scheduled to open in October as an MTC house. A host of Broadway musicals will perform at the 9:15 concert, including Hairspray, La Bohème, Movin’ Out, The Look of Love and Urban Cowboy. Also on the bill are Man of La Mancha’s Brian Stokes Mitchell and performers from Def Poetry Jam, The Jackie Wilson Story and Zanna, Don’t!. The evening begins at 7 PM with cocktails, followed by dinner (8 PM) and the show (9:15 PM). Among those scheduled to attend the evening include Senator Charles Schumer, Lynn Redgrave, Swoosie Kurtz, Tony Roberts, Donna Murphy, Marc Shaiman, Scott Wittman, Erica Jong, Kitty Carlisle Hart, Denise O’Hare and Ana Gasteyer.

Tickets for the gala — ranging from $1,000 (individual tickets) to $30,000 (table of ten) — are available by calling (212) 399-3000, ext. 144. The New York Hilton is located at 1335 Avenue of the Americas at 53rd Street.

All proceeds will benefit Manhattan Theatre Club’s educational outreach programs, its reading series and musical theatre program as well as the playwriting fellowship program and MTC’s seven-play season.
