News Muny Into the Woods Casts Bridges of Madison County Star as Cinderella Principal casting is now complete for the Muny's upcoming production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into the Woods, which will star Grammy Award winner Heather Headley, who won a Tony Award for her performance in the title role of Aida, as The Witch.

Directed by Gary Griffin, the musical fairytale will play the St. Louis venue July 21-27.

Joining Headley will be the previously announced Erin Dilly (Baker’s Wife), Rob McClure (Baker), Ken Page (Narrator), Andrew Samonsky (Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf), Ryan Silverman (Rapunzel’s Prince), Jason Gotay (Jack), Ellen Harvey (Cinderella’s Stepmother), Sara Kapner (Little Red Ridinghood), Samantha Massell (Rapunzel), Michael McCormick (Mysterious Man/Cinderella’s Father) and Zoe Vonder Haar (Jack’s Mother) with Anna Blair (Granny/Cinderella’s Stepmother), Jennifer Diamond (Florinda), Gary Glasgow (Steward), Maggis Lakis (Milky White) and April Strelinger (Lucinda).

Playing the role of Cinderella will be Elena Shaddow, whose Broadway credits include The Visit, La Cage, The Woman in White, Fiddler on the Roof, Nine, Sweet Smell of Success and Les Miserables. Shaddow was also the star of the Williamstown Theatre Festival world premiere of The Bridges of Madison County. She later covered the role of Francesca in the Broadway production of the Tony-winning musical.

The upcoming production will also have choreography by Chris Bailey, music direction by Brad Haak, scenic design by Michael Schweikardt, costume design by Andrea Lauer, lighting design by Rob Denton, sound design by John Shivers and Hugh Sweeney, and video design by Matthew Young. Wig design is by Leah Loukas, and the production stage manager is Monica Dickhens.

Into The Woods, according to production notes, "intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales and follows them to explore the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. Journey with the Baker and his wife, as they work to lift the Witch’s spell with the help of Little Red Ridinghood, Jack, Rapunzel, Cinderella and others." Visit muny.org for more information.
