Alisa Palmer directs the new work by Allen Cole (music and lyrics), Melody A. Johnson and Rick Roberts (book and lyrics).

The cast includes Tamara Bernier Evans, Paul Braunstein, Martin Julien, Trish Lindström, Ron Pederson and Victor A. Young.

According to Tarragon notes, "Mimi (Trish Lindström), the wealthy Marquise of Brinvilliers, rebels against her father's iron rule by taking up with a young lover, St. Croix (Ron Pederson). When her father (Victor A. Young) discovers the tryst and banishes St. Croix to the Bastille, he cannot foresee what he has set in motion. St. Croix learns the secrets of poison-making and, once free, shares them with Mimi, still chafing under her father's rule."

It's billed as a "darkly funny musical [that] chronicles the spree of France's most infamous 17th century serial killers who found the prospect of murder just as titillating as an evening of debauchery."

Mimi opens in the Tarragon Mainspace Sept. 23 (after previews) for a run to Oct. 25. The creative team includes set and costume designer Camellia Koo, lighting designer Michael Walton, musical director Allen Cole, choreographer Matjash Mrozewski, pianist Dan Rutzen and stage manager Kathryn Porter.

Cole is known for his musicals Pélagie (CanStage), The Wrong Son (NAC) and most recently Rockbound (Nova Scotia tour).
