News Murray, Martin, Rubin-Vega and Rudetsky Set for Project Shaw's Caesar and Cleopatra Tony nominee Brian Murray and Madeleine Martin will headline Project Shaw's Caesar and Cleopatra at the Players Club on Sept. 22.

The 7 PM reading of George Gernard Shaw's work features Brian Murray (The Crucible) and Madeleine Martin (August: Osage County) as Caesar and Cleopatra, respectively.

The company also boasts Tony nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega as Ftateeta, Simon Jones as Pothinus, Daniel Reichard as Apollodorus, Todd Gearhart as Rufio, Jack Koenig as Britannus, Seth Rudetsky as Theodotus, Daniel Marconi as Ptoletmy, Anthony Holds as Lucius, Tim Artz as Achillas and Jon Levenson as The Sentinel.

Press notes for Caesar and Cleopatra state, "The teenage Cleopatra encounters Julius Caesar one moonlit night on the Sphinx. He has come to conquer Egypt and finds himself teaching the girl to rule as a queen. What really happened? Shaw gives us an idea in this crackling comedy of politics, life and death."

The Project Shaw series is produced and directed by David Staller, who acted with Dana Ivey in Shaw's Mrs. Warren's Profession at the Irish Repertory Theatre. The series intends to offer every sketch, full-length and one-act play by the playwright.

Also scheduled for the 2008 Project Shaw season are The Shewing-Up of Blanco Posnet (Oct. 20), Jitta's Atonement (Nov. 17) and Saint Joan (Dec. 22).
