The multi-faceted free app includes a first-ever "Productions Near Me" feature that allows users to find MTI musicals in their area by using the GPS within their device, or by entering their city and state, or zip code.

MTI's vast library of musicals can be accessed through the app, which features detailed synopses, author bios, production facts, and audio samples for each production, including the Broadway JR series and the Disney catalogue. Users can bookmark individual pages of their favorite productions, which will also provide nearby and future productions.

Included in the app is the MTI Marquee blog, which keeps users up to date on licensing information, new show aquisitions and news regarding MTI titles.

"Our new innovative mobile strategy is another way for our customers to promote their musical productions, and it also allows us to raise awareness of the shows in our catalog by making show information accessible anywhere," MTI president Drew Cohen said in a statement. "This is an exciting step for MTI and we are proud to offer the first app of its kind to the theatrical community."

MTI has also launched a Youtube campaign, in which characters from their musicals (including Little Shop of Horrors' Seymour Krelbourne, Little Orphan Annie, The Sharks and the Jets and more) introduce users to the apps features.

The free MTI Shows app can be downloaded here.
