Flying Bulldog Productions will present the world premiere of In My Body, a musical about the challenges humans face living in their own bodies, November 9-13 at Prince Theater in Philadelphia.

In My Body features lyrics by Michael Biello and music by Dan Martin with a book by Lis Kalogris, Kate Cipriano and Melissa Hays. Through song and spoken word, movement and photography, In My Body reveals true-life physical and emotional body stories.

The cast includes Katie Zaffrann, Donnie Hammond, April Woodall, Austin Ku and Michael Indeglio.

Hamilton star Javier Muñoz participated in an earlier developmental workshop of the piece in May 2015. View rehearsal footage from that workshop below.

In My Body, according to press notes, “strives to expose body truths audiences can identify with in personal ways or recognize in their friends and families. Using songs, music, spoken word, body movement and the works of Philadelphia photographer, Leah Macdonald, the characters in In My Body groan, bitch and, sometimes, laugh as they cover and uncover self-consciousness, self-loathing, acceptance, pride, love and other raw truths about how people feel living in their physical and emotional bodies. The musical tackles issues like, fertility, gender identity, obesity, bullying, sexuality, human rights, obsession, trauma, disability, pride, aging, death, self-harm, self-love and more. These issues are presented in traditional and nontraditional ways.”

The piece will feature direction by Kathryn MacMillan, music direction by Chris Burcheri and choreography by K.O. DelMarcelle.
