News Musical Chasing Nicolette,With John Bolton, Kate Reinders, Nick Wyman, Gets Free NYC Reading Feb. 4 The Barrymore Award-winning musical comedy Chasing Nicolette, seen regionally, will get a Manhattan reading at 7 PM Feb. 4, under the direction of Gordon Greenberg. The cast includes John Bolton, Alex Wyse, Allison Semmes, Nick Wyman, Dennis Parlato, Nathaniel Stampley, Alan Mingo, Jr., Megan Lawrence, Dale Radunz and Kate Reinders.

The show by composer David Friedman and two-time Tony Award nominee Peter Kellogg is based on the French prose-verse romance "Aucassin and Nicolette." The 10-person comic musical tells of the love between a Christian count and a Muslim princess in 1224.

The work was seen in productions at Prince Music Theatre in Philadelphia, Village Theatre near Seattle and at Westport Country Playhouse in Connecticut. This new presentation is part of The TRU Reading Series. Director Greenberg is known for productions of Working, Pirates! and Band Geeks.

Chasing Nicolette won a Philadelphia Barrymore Award for its score. It also received a Seattle Times Footlight Award.

The new reading is music-directed by Steve Marzullo. Doug Denoff is producing the reading.

Multi-platinum composer Friedman (Scandalous: The Life and Trials of Aimee Semple McPherson) and two-time Tony Award nominee Kellogg (book and lyrics for 1992's Anna Karenina) are also the authors of Desperate Measures, a Western musical loosely based on Measure for Measure, which premiered at Spirit of Broadway Theatre in Norwich and won 11 Spirit Awards. The Feb. 4 performance at Soho Playhouse, 15 Van Dam Street, is open to the public. Admission is free.
