The company "Ananda Dansa" is currently performing the first musical adaptation of the classic novel by Mary Shelley. Frankestein, The Musical, which opened on Jan. 8, now runs in Madrid through Feb. 8. in the Bellas Artes Theatre.
The "Ananda Dansa" company, which specializes in dance, is currently getting involved in the difficult task of creating what they have defined as "Gothic Opera".
In Frankestein, elements from theatre, music and dance are combined in a gloomy environment. The musical, which is expected to run for a month, marks the fifth musical running in Madrid at this moment.
The libretto and lyrics are by playwright Rodolf Sirera, and the music by Pepe Llopis. Toni Borja stars as Frankestein. The stage direction, original idea and scene design is by Edison Valls.
Frankestein tells the story of the creation of the tenderest monster in history at Doctor Victor Frankestein's laboratory. Frankestein, The Musical runs at the Bellas Artes Theatre of Madrid 2, Marques de Casa Riera Street, Wednesday and Thursday at 8 PM Friday and Saturday at 7:30 PM and 10:30 PM and Sunday at 5 PM and 7:30 PM.
