News Musical Theatre West's South Pacific Begins Tonight Musical Theatre West's production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific plays the Long Beach, CA, venue Feb. 13-March 1.

Directed and choreographed by Joe Langworth, the limited engagement also has musical direction by Dennis Castellano.

The cast is headed by Alessa Neeck as Ensign Nellie Forbush, Christopher Carl as Emile DeBecque, Patrick Cummings as Lt. Joseph Cable, Jodi Kimura as Bloody Mary and Cailan Rose as Liat.

The production also has lighting design by Paul Black and costume design by Karen St. Pierre.

Based on James A. Michener's Pulitzer Prize-winning 1947 book "Tales of the South Pacific," the musical features the music of Richard Rodgers, the lyrics of Oscar Hammerstein II and a book by Oscar Hammerstein II and Joshua Logan.
