Gary Marshall, who directed the blockbuster film, is meeting with potential composers, lyricists and directors this week in Manhattan. The book for the musical version of "Pretty Woman" will be penned by Marshall and J.F. Lawton, who wrote the film's screenplay.

The romantic comedy, which brought in $500 million at the box office, was billed as such: "A man in a legal but hurtful business needs an escort for some social events, and hires a beautiful prostitute he meets... only to fall in love."

"Pretty Woman" also featured Ralph Bellamy, Jason Alexander, Laura San Giacomo and Alex Hyde-White. Roberts, who was nominated for an Academy Award, won the Golden Globe for her performance.
