News My Kind of Tune Gives Voice to Chicago Musical Theatre Writers April 19 What are Chicago musical theatre writers working on? Fans of new work can get a sampling April 19 when Chicago Musical Theatre Works and Chicago Cabaret Professionals presents My Kind of Tune, an evening of material by Chicago songwriters.

The starry event celebrates the second annual ASCAP/Disney Chicago Musical Theatre Workshop, which is taking place the same week (the Workshop director is Craig Carnelia, who penned Sweet Smell of Success, Working).

The evening is directed by Roy Hine, artistic director of Wagon Wheel Playhouse. The songwriters represented are D. C. Anderson, Cheri Coons, Elizabeth Doyle, Linda Eisenstein, Doug Frew, Owen Kalt, Chuck Larkin, Michael Mahler, Patti McKenny, Beckie Menzie, Steven and Karen Multer, Duane Nelsen, June Shellene, John Steinhagen and Dan Sticco.

Performers include Allison Bazarko, Jen Chada, Cheri Coons, Mary Ernster, Steve Hinger, Paul Langford, Michael Mahler, Richard Manera, Kymberly Mellen, Tom Michael, Pam Patterson, Hollis Resnik, Lucia Spina, Holly Stauder and Ginger Tam.

My Kind of Tune is April 19 at 7:30 PM, in the Fifth Floor Meeting Room SW at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington Street.

Admission is free; seating will be first-come first-served. *

Chicago Musical Theatre Works is a collective of writers, producers and people interested in promoting home-grown musical theatre material in the Windy City.
