News My One And Only Opens in London Feb. 25

The romantic musical, My One and Only, which arrived at London's Piccadilly Theatre on Feb. 9, opens on Monday Feb. 25.

Heading the cast, in the role of Edith Herbert, will be double Olivier Award-winner Janie Dee, who won rave reviews with her performance as an android in Alan Ayckbourn's Comic Potential at the Vaudeville. Dee will be joined by Crazy For You's Tim Flavin as Captain Billy Buck Chandler, the daredevil aviator.

The Tony-Award winning musical takes us back to the America of 1927. Captain Billy Buck Chandler is determined to be the first man in history to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, but his mission is somewhat sidetracked at a railroad station when he sees Edith Herbert.

Loveday Ingram, Associate Director at the Chichester Festival Theatre (where the show recently finished a sell-out season) will direct Dee, Flavin and a cast of 24 as they sing and dance their way through a sensational George and Ira Gershwin score, including "S'Wonderful," "Funny Face" and "Nice Work If You Can Get It." The much-praised choreography is by Craig Revel-Horwood.

In 1983, the musical was a hit on Broadway playing two years at the St. James Theatre (currently home to The Producers), where it starred Tommy Tune and Twiggy. The Chichester festival production marks the UK debut of My One and Only.
