News Naked Angels' 3-Step Formula Play Development Series to Begin New Season The Off-Broadway theatre company Naked Angels has announced that its 3-Step Formula series, which encourages the development of new plays, will begin its 19th season Sept. 13.

The formula allows writers, actors and directors to experiment with new work in stages. The first step in the formula, Tuesdays@9, is "a weekly ‘open-submission’ environment in which writers and actors gather to bring the first breath of life to brand new material - ten pages at a time," according to press notes. The second step, 1st Mondays, takes place once a month and facilitates the reading of new plays. The final step, Angels in Progress, allows for a weeklong workshop of plays that have gone through the first two steps and culminates in a public presentation.

The first event of this season will be a 1st Mondays reading of The Atomic Generation, A New Musical, with book by Josh Holloway and music and lyrics by JC Hopkins, Sept. 13 at 3:30 PM at D-Lounge in the Daryl Roth Theatre.

Tuesdays@9 will begin Sept. 14 at 9 PM in the D-Lounge. Angels in Progress will workshop The Mnemonist of Dutchess County, a new play by Josh Koenigsberg, directed by Laura Savia. A public presentation will be held Sept. 24 at 4:30 PM
at the Ars Nova Penthouse.

Plays that have come out of the 3-Step Formula include the Tony-nominated Next Fall, by Naked Angels artistic director Geoffrey Naughts; and Lobby Hero and The Starry Messenger by founding member Kenneth Lonergan.

The Daryl Roth Theatre is located at 101 East 15th Street. The Ars Nova Penthouse is located at 511 West 54th Street. For more information, visit nakedangels.com.
