Natasha Richardson--who created the role of Sally Bowles in the long-running Roundabout Theatre Company revival of Kander and Ebb's Cabaret--said that she may return to close the show sometime in 2002. Richardson spoke in the press room of the 2001 Tony Awards.

Richardson added that Cabaret has not set a closing date and that talks were ongoing. She also said that she was mulling over various projects that might bring her back to Broadway. She most recently acted on the Broadway stage in Patrick Marber's Closer.

Gina Gershon is currently playing the role of Sally Bowles. Brooke Shields will take over the role in July.
