Stage and screen favorite Nathan Lane is returning to TV. The three-time Tony winner (and six-time Emmy nominee) has booked two gigs on new shows, including The Gilded Age, which is already stacked with a theatre alum cast including Cynthia Nixon, Christine Baranski, Audra McDonald, Donna Murphy, Celia Keenan-Bolger, and Kelli O’Hara.
Deadline reports Lane will play the recurring role of Ward McAllister, a historical figure who often determined which families were deemed worthy of being accepted in high society in a list dubbed “The Four Hundred.” The Julian Fellowes series will debut on HBO at an undetermined date.
In addition, the performer will appear in Hulu’s new comedy series Only Murders in the Building alongside Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. Lane plays a New York City grocery chain owner in the show, co-created and written by Martin and John Hoffman, following three true crime–obsessed strangers.
