The Associated Press reports that "Good Night, and Good Luck," the George Clooney-directed film starring David Strathairn as Edward R. Murrow, was voted Best Picture. Ang Lee was named Best Director for "Brokeback Mountain," and Jake Gyllenhaal, who co-stars in the gay-themed film, received Best Supporting Actor honors. Two stars of the stage and screen — Philip Seymour Hoffman and Felicity Huffman — received top acting honors: Hoffman for his performance in "Capote" and Huffman for her work in "Transamerica."

Others honored include "Memoirs of a Geisha"'s Gong Li (Best Supporting Actress), "Mrs. Henderson Presents" (Best Ensemble) and Terrence Howard (Breakthrough Performance).

The National Board of Review, according to the group's official website, "has dedicated its efforts to the support of film, domestic and foreign, as both art and entertainment. Our nonprofit organization celebrates the distinctive voice of the individual artist, honoring excellence and supporting freedom of expression in film."
