Add to playwright Wendy Wasserstein's trove of accolades an Artist's Award from the National Corporate Theatre Fund, to be given at the Fund's annual Chairman's Awards Gala June 1. The award honors Wasserstein's long association with regional theatres, including The Heidi Chronicles' premiere and the workshop of An American Daughter, both at NCTF member theatre, Seattle Rep.
Taking a Theatre Management Award at the gala will be Jack O'Brien, artistic director of San Diego's Old Globe Theatre since 1981. CBS Corporation will also get an award for its financial support of the organization.
Theatres comprising the National Corporate Theatre Fund are KY's Actors Theatre of Louisville, CA's American Conservatory Theatre, MA's ART, OH's Cleveland Playhouse, IL's Goodman Theatre, MN's Guthrie Theatre, CT's Long Wharf Theatre, CA's Old Globe Theatre, WA's Seattle Rep and RI's Trinity Rep. Founded in 1978, the fund helps non-profit theatre executives raise contributions and investments.
Last year's award winner, Hal Holbrook, will host this year's ceremony, June 1 at NY's Hudson Theatre.
