News National Theatre of Greece's Electra to Play NY City Center Olivier Award-winning director Peter Stein will stage The National Theatre of Greece production of Sophocles' Electra to play New York City for a limited six-performance run in October.

City Center will house the production Oct. 10-14.

"Electra is the quintessential revenge drama," reads an announcement. "Her frenzied passion to avenge her father's death not only reveals her character, but serves as a metaphor for the enormous breadth of pain that the human heart can withstand."

Stein (2006's London production of Blackbird) will direct a cast that features Stefania Goulioti (as Electra), Apostolis Totsikas (Orestes), Karyofyllia Karaabeti (Clytemnestra), Lazaros Georgakopoulos (Aegisthus), Miltos Sotiriadis (Pylades), Yannis Fertis (Tutor) and Kora Karvouni (Chrysothemis).

The chorus includes Margarita Amarantidi, Errika Bigiou, Katerina Daskalaki, Kika Georgiou, Ioanna Zoi Karavasili, Irini Kirmizaki, Christina Maxouri, Lida Maniatiatakou, Marili Milia, Yota Militsi, Georgina Palaiothodorou, Maria Saltiri, Pinelopi Sergounioti, and Mara Vlachaki.

The Electra design team includes Dionissis Fotopoulos (set and costume) and Japhy Weideman (lighting). Alessando Nidi provides music composition and music direction.
