News Nativity: A Life Story in Concert — with Lillias White — Presented Dec. 10 and 11 Tony Award winner Lillias White, most recently on Broadway as Matron "Mama" Morton in Chicago, heads the cast of Nativity: A Life Story in Concert at Joe's Pub.

The Dec. 10 (at 1 PM) and Dec. 11 (at 7 and 9:30 PM) concerts also feature the talents of George Faison and Drumstruck's Leeanet Noble. The evenings, according to press notes, are "based on the gospel of The International Shrines of the Black Madonna [and] is a powerful concert of spoken word narrative, and music that is saturated with African traditional tunes, gospel, jazz and R&B." Lillias White, who starred in the award-winning revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, garnered a Tony Award for her work in Cy Coleman's The Life. She also starred on Broadway in Barnum and Once on This Island and as Effie in the revival of Dreamgirls. White has also appeared in the Actors' Fund of America's benefit concerts of Dreamgirls, Funny Girl and Hair and was part of the cast of the City Center Encores! production of Purlie.
