News   NBC's The Wiz Live! Will Feature Brand-New Tune
The Wiz Live!, which will air on NBC Dec. 3, will feature a brand-new song.

A spokesperson for NBC confirmed to Playbill.com that the currently untitled tune was penned by Ne-Yo, who will play the Tin Man; Elijah Kelley, who is cast as the Scarecrow; music producer Harvey Mason, Jr.; and Tony winner Stephen Oremus, who is the music director for the live production. The song will be performed by the characters of Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion. As previously reported, the cast is headed by Shanice Williams as Dorothy, Queen Latifah as The Wiz, Mary J. Blige as Evillene, David Alan Grier as Cowardly Lion, Uzo Aduba as Glinda, Amber Riley as Addaperle, Stephanie Mills as Auntie Em, Elijah Kelley as Scarecrow, Common as Bouncer and Ne-Yo as Tin Man.

The musical, according to NBC, is described as such: "Dorothy, a young woman from Kansas, is swept up in a tornado and relocated to a fantasy world that is inhabited by munchkins, good and bad witches, and, of course, flying monkeys. She eventually takes a path down a yellow brick road to find a wizard who can help her go home and along the way meets a scarecrow, tin man and cowardly lion, who all learn to help one another."
