Based on the original Anthony Shaffer screenplay, LaBute pens and directs his new take on the drama for Warner Bros. Pictures, which has been reset to an isolated, mysterious island off the coast of Maine (instead of Scotland). Nicolas Cage stars in the work as a sheriff investigating a young girl's disappearance when he uncovers a secret about the people who inhabit the island.

Same Time, Next Year Tony Award winner Ellen Burstyn and Frances Conroy (The Ride Down Mt. Morgan) also star in a cast that includes Leelee Sobieski, Kate Beahan, Christa Campbell, Diane Delano, Paul Becker and Molly Parker.

LaBute — known to theatre audiences for his stageworks — has previously directed his screenplays to "In the Company of Men," "Your Friends & Neighbors," "Nurse Betty," "Bash," "Possession" and "The Shape of Things." His recent plays include Some Girl(s), This is How It Goes, Fat Pig, The Distance From Here and The Mercy Seat. This coming Off-Broadway season will see two new works by the scribe: In a Dark, Dark House at MCC Theatre and Wrecks , starring Ed Harris, at the Public Theatre.
